Anyone interested in serving on one of the city’s boards or commissions must submit an application to be considered. Download the attached form and return it to Charles Town City Hall, along with any other materials that support your application, to be considered for an appointment.
Board Vacancy – Tree Board: The City of Charles Town is has a vacancy for a board member in its Tree Board whose term will be ending on 12/31/24.The Charles Town Tree Board is primarily charged with making recommendations to the mayor and city council regarding the planting, maintenance, and protection of trees on public property. They also assist the Charles Town Board of Park and Recreation with protecting and maintaining existing trees and green spaces on all city owned and recreational lands. If asked, they may also assist private property owners with advice and counsel on the selection of species and care of trees.

- Only US citizens that are residents of Charles Town are eligible to serve.
- In addition to the residency requirement, an ideal candidate will have previously served on a municipal or similar governmental board or commission. Candidates without prior experience or background are still encouraged to apply.

A hard copy may also be mailed to his attention at Charles Town City Hall, 101 E. Washington Street, Charles Town, WV 25414. The initial deadline for submitting application materials is May 14, 2021.
The positions are open until filled with the first consideration of applications scheduled for the May 17, 2021 city council meeting. Applicants are encouraged to attend this meeting. City council meetings are held at city hall and begin at 7:00 pm. Link to Zoom meeting can be provided, if requested.
